HIP Costs
Home Information Packs can costs anywhere from £300 to £1000 including VAT depending on whom you buy your HIP from and the contents of the pack. Expect to pay £300 to £400 inc VAT for your Home Information Pack.
The costs break down including VAT of a typical pack is as follows:
- Energy Performance Certificate - £80 to £100
- Local Authority Searches -£90 to £300
- Drainage and Water Searches - £50 to £60
- Land Registry Title - £4 to £10
- Land Registry Plan - £4 to £10
- Optional Home Condition Report - £300 to £600
- HIP Provider fee to compile documents - £50 to £100
- Printing - £10 to £20
- Estate Agents commission for re-selling pack - £100 to £300
It is possible for individuals to purchase each part of the pack themselves and compile their own DIY HIP thus saving the HIP provider fee and the Estate Agents re-selling commission. However in practise the cheapest method to buy a HIP is from a HIP Provider as HIP Providers are able to bulk be each item and pass on the savings.
