Property News - Renting a new home can make you healthier

The Scottish housing agency has compiled research that suggests when tenants move to a new home there are a range of health benefits.

People often come from unsafe or poor housing and moving into well maintained and safe properties improves the standard of people's lives, reports the Scottish Herald.

Malcolm Chisholm, communities' minister for Scotland, stated: "The links between poor housing and poor health are well established. There is no doubt that good quality housing does pay long-term health dividends.

"Tenants themselves report the quality of life is better in many ways when they get decent new homes."

The Scottish health, housing, and regeneration project (SHARPS) aims to evaluate how happy people are in their homes and to bring development to the areas that need it.
