Hips delay "good for the industry"

The government's decision to delay the launch of Home Information Packs (Hips) until August 1st is a "good thing for the industry", one Hips provider has said.
David Collett, a spokesman for the Bespoke Hip Company (BHC), said that the short delay of around ten weeks would allow Hips to be rolled out with minimum fuss, giving home sellers and buyers a chance to see the benefits of the system.
"It will allow people to benefit from the good things about Hips without the negativity of a rushed job," Mr Collett explained.
"Now that they can be processed in an orderly fashion, the benefits can begin to seep through and Hips will no longer be shrouded in a cloud of potential doom."
BHC also welcomed the government's move to stagger the introduction of the information packs, arguing that this would add to the orderly fashion of the roll-out.
"With all the negativity surrounding Hips, it is little wonder that we seem to have lost sight of the consumer benefits, but consumer benefits there certainly are," added Mr Collett.
"Once… Hips have been introduced people will begin to understand how they can help a buyer understand more about the home they are purchasing."
