Older sellers more trustworthy

People looking to buy a home may do well to purchase from a seller aged over 50.
People looking to buy a home may do well to purchase from a seller aged over 50.
That is according to new research by Saga which found that sellers aged over 50 tend to be more honest when selling their home.
The insurance firm found that people aged between 18 and 24 are the most untrustworthy, with 55 per cent admitting that they would lie in order to make a sale.
In contrast, 74 per cent of over 50s said that they would never lie when selling a property.
The research also found that some younger sellers are prepared to tell more than just a little white lie to ensure the sale goes through.
Around 34 per cent of those aged under 50 revealed that they would paint over a damp patch rather than fixing the problem, leaving the new owners with a big problem and potentially a hefty bill.
It was also discovered that 50 per cent of under 50s will lie about having adequate parking when making a sale, compared to just 33 per cent of over 50s.
In addition, 32 per cent of younger people are prepared to hide the fact that they live next door to noisy neighbours, while only 21 per cent of over 50s would do the same.
