Property News - Out-of-date homes on agents' websites

Estate agents are being attacked for leaving properties on their websites months after they have been sold.

Estate agents are being attacked for leaving properties on their websites months after they have been sold.

A report by the Telegraph highlights the practice which is designed to encourage customers to register with an agent.

With properties in London at a premium, many agents are simply leaving sold properties on their sites to make it look as though they have a plethora of homes to offer.

This can be frustrating for customers who become interested in a property only to find that it has 'recently been sold' when they contact the agent.

The customer is then encouraged to register and the out-of-date property on the website has done its job.

Some agents claim that they merely leave properties on their sites after they have been sold in order to show of their successes and show that there is activity in the area.

Home buyers can avoid being given the run-around by estate agents by searching for properties which are advertised independently.
