Many homeowners in Britain believe that they did not get everything they wanted once they purchased their property.

That is according to a new survey by AA Home Insurance, which also highlights an apparent distrust of estate agents among buyers.

The report reveals that seven per cent of buyers were concerned that they were being mis-sold a property by an agent during the buying process.

In addition, 29 per cent said that they found the whole process difficult and 11 per cent had concerns about hidden faults.

Estate agents were named as the least trustworthy professionals by 62 per cent of respondents, second only to politicians.

The research also found that buyers are now increasingly turning to other sources when looking to buy a house.

According to the AA's figures, the internet is proving to be a popular tool when looking for a home, with 18 per cent of respondents searching the web for this reason.

Homeowners were given a boost this week with the publication of the minutes from the latest meeting of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).

The document revealed that all nine MPC members voted in favour of holding the base rate of interest in September.
