Property News - Buying a home 'a safer investment'

New figures reveal that most Brits believe that having their money wrapped up in property is safer than it being left in a bank or building society.

New figures reveal that most Brits believe that having their money wrapped up in property is safer than it being left in a bank or building society.

According to research for the BBC Two series, The Truth About Property, the majority of people living in the country would feel safer owning a home than having cash savings.

The BBC commissioned NOP to ask a number of people which they felt was a safer investment and 53 per cent said that homebuying was the least likely to see you losing out.

Experts are in disagreement with the view of the general population, however, with most investors claiming that cash is safer than property as if the bank does not go into insolvency there is no risk of losing you money.

A separate survey by the Association of Investment Companies found that Brits also remain confident in the housing market with 62 per cent believing house process will continue to rise.
