Homeowners questioned over quality of housing market

Homeowners are being invited to join in a nationwide study following the trends of those buying and selling homes.

Homeowners are being invited to join in a nationwide study following the trends of those buying and selling homes.

The research, which is being carried out by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), will be part of its home building market study which will aim to look at the quality of property on the market.

More than 1,000 homeowners will be questioned for the study which will focus on current concerns among consumers of the home building sector.

Some of the questions which are set to be put to those taking part include how they felt when purchasing and living in their new home, whether that are currently satisfied with the quality and range of properties on the market and whether they feel they had someone to turn to should it all go wrong.

Heather Clayton, OFT senior director of Markets and Projects, said: "For many people, buying a house is the largest purchase they will ever make and the study will look for ways to improve the experience of buying a new home as well as the range and quality of new homes available and the after sales service offered.

"We would encourage everyone who is contacted to take part."
