Property News - Housing market prospects looking good

The future prospects of the UK housing market look bright, according to Legal & General Property.

The future prospects of the UK housing market look bright, according to Legal & General Property.

The firm has highlighted its belief that overall returns will increase in the second half of 2008.

According to the firm, the UK market offers good investment opportunities and will continue to do so as the year progresses.

Rob Martin, head of performance analysis and research at Legal & General Property, said that property has always represented a good investment.

"The case for investing in property remains a strong one," he commented.

"It has always been an excellent asset to include in a portfolio due its low correlation with equities and bonds and its income generating capacity," continued Mr Martin.

The latest figures from the Assetz House Price Watch showed that house prices increased by 0.7 per cent in February.

Further to this, a recent poll, carried out by the Yung Group, found that 86 per cent of property investors expect London house prices to rise or remain the same over the next 12 months.
