The winner of a mortgage award which recognises lender activity has been announced with best overall category gaining points for products, service, sales and marketing.

Accord Mortgages won in the Best Overall Lender category. The Legal & General Mortgage Club Awards winning ceremony was held in London on Friday (June 6th).

Ben Thompson, director of mortgages at Legal & General, said: "Now in its eighth year, our Mortgage Club Awards have become a regular fixture on the industry calendar. The lending landscape has changed dramatically over the past twelve months [and] it's important to celebrate the positives."

Other winners included Abbey for Intermediaries who were awarded Best Lender for Mainstream Products and Alliance and Leicester who won for Best Lender for First Time Buyer Products.

Commenting on current lenders, Pauline McCallion, editor of Your Mortgage, said: "About two weeks ago a lot of lenders lowered their rates and that was seen as a really good sign, but then a week later a couple of larger lenders – Nationwide and Abbey – increased rates again."
